How to Make Your Perfume Last Longer

Simple habits that help a fragrance stay with you through the day.

Apply perfume to clean, moisturised skin. Fragrance clings better to hydrated skin, so use an unscented lotion first, or one that matches your scent.

Spray on pulse points: the wrists, the inner elbows and the sides of the neck. These areas are warmer and help the scent develop. Do not rub your wrists together, because friction breaks down the top notes.

Layering helps. Using a matching body mist, lotion or hair mist under your perfume builds a longer-lasting trail.

Store the bottle in a cool, dark place, away from sunlight and bathroom humidity. Heat and light change the scent and shorten its life.

Choose the right strength for the occasion. A lighter eau de toilette is good for hot days and the office, while richer, deeper fragrances suit evenings and cooler weather.
