Unstitched vs Stitched Suits: Which Should You Buy?
The honest difference between unstitched fabric lengths and ready-to-wear stitched suits, and how to decide.
An unstitched suit is a set of fabric lengths: usually a shirt piece, a trouser piece and a dupatta. You take it to a tailor, who cuts and stitches it to your measurements. A stitched suit is already tailored in standard sizes and ready to wear the day it arrives.
Choose unstitched if you want a made-to-measure fit, a particular neckline or sleeve length, or a design your own tailor knows well. Unstitched suits are the traditional choice for weddings and formal occasions, because the cut can be adjusted to your body and to the season's fashion.
Choose stitched if you need the outfit soon, you do not have a tailor you trust, or you simply prefer the convenience. Check the size chart carefully and compare it with a suit of your own that fits well.
A practical tip: if you are between sizes, an unstitched suit is almost always the safer buy, because the tailor can fit it exactly. If you love a stitched design but are unsure of the fit, message us before ordering and we will help you choose a size.
Cost is also different. Unstitched fabric is priced without tailoring, so remember to add the stitching charge from your tailor when comparing it with a stitched piece.
